Parents Out in Droves to Parent Association Event
It was a quiet Saturday morning. The teenagers were in bed. The toddlers were watching Dora or Spongebob. But over 400 of their parents came out Saturday April 10 to take part in a free event at St. Patrick High School.
Hosted by the Catholic School Parent Association (CSPA) and funded by a Ministry of Education Parent Reaching Out grant, hundreds of engaged parents participated in over a dozen workshops aimed at helping them understand everything from anxiety disorders, mean girls, how the young brain works and how to help your child with math you never studied.
The highlight of the morning was a talk from renowned parenting expert, Barbara Coloroso. Speaking on the topic Just Because It's Not Wrong, Doesn't Make It Right, Ms. Coloroso held 480 parents rapt in their seats as they learned to teach their kids to think and act ethically.
For more details from that morning, and to view some of the workshop presentations and handouts, go to the Parenting Now section of the Activities Menu.

Adolescence - Now What?
Thanks to all of you who attended on April 18. We had a great turnout at St. Patrick's High School. There were 235 parents registered to attend, and over a dozen more walk-ins that morning! The feedback has been very positive, and we hope to hold a similar event next year.
